John Pawson’s family have funded the inaugural Riverrun Trail series and Trophy under the Pawson Adventure Fund. The fund recognises John’s lifelong enthusiasm for the outdoors. This shone through both in his determination as a businessman in establishing two successful outdoor clothing and equipment brands, Alp Sports and Kathmandu, and from a personal perspective as a keen climber, tramper, kayaker and skier. More recently he enjoyed being part of the energetic board of the Upper Clutha Tracks Trust developing new public tracks in the Wanaka and Hawea area, three of which are being utilised in the Riverrun Trail Series. John died in 2008 climbing in the mountains he so loved and his family wish to continue to recognise his passion for outdoor pursuits. John’s wife Meg and his sisters Christine, Janet, Mary-Anne and Erin are contributors to the fund.
